My brand new 17' Powerbook G4 has finally arrived. I got lucky. They stopped selling the 15' which was the one I had ordered. By a fortuitous quirk of fate, they shipped me the 17' "instead", and also gave me a considerable discount. Well...I mean, if you insist, I WILL accept it this time...!!!
The display and the resultant graphics are fantasticabulous! It essentially feels like a laptop with the power of a desktop.
Now let me get back to playing with my new pet/toy...

Ashujo:
My understanding was that students carried Dells and professors got the Powerbooks. At least, that is what the the pecking order is up here in Mich.
Down south, looks like accents and even protocols are different. Is it Southern gentility?

Sumeet:
I remember almost having an accident on the I-80. I was too busy laughing and trying to hold my stomach while listening to the havaldar episode in Mhais.
"Diver ?? lysan??" . Too much!!

Sumeet: Big Freudian mistake noted. Changes duly enforced!! 'Mhais' obviously endures...

Hirak: The pecking order is not much different, but the web orders ARE in our lab, simply because my advisor made hundreds of thousands off an anti-HIV drug, and so happens to afford this...but on a more defensive note (!)...we ALL have Macs as laptops; they are just better suited for our modeling work (not THAT kind of modeling...). On the other hand, we ARE gradually replacing our SGI workstations with Dell Linux machines. But I have to say that by the quirk of fate noted above, only I landed up with a 17' Mac...oops, I mean 17".
