Vivek: Hirak seems to be right. In fact, I realised that I have the popup problem with Firefox, but not with Safari which I usually use. Since we are on the subject, does anyone know how to change the settings in Firefox so that PDF files open in the browser itself and can be viewed, without getting saved to your drive.

Vivek:That problem is due to Nedstat. If you use Firefox with the Adblock extension, it should block the nasty pop-up

A: The settings are in tools>Options ...
Then you can make various settings for downloads.
