I would argue that whoever did this actually did the right-wing a favor. It might even have been one of the extreme right who hate McCain with a passion. Because if this thing causes his campaign to destruct, at least it would be destructing before the Republican primary, thus giving Republicans a chance to change their nominee.
That's true, and wouldn't it be a ironic surprise for the right wing since they love vilifying the NYT...
In any case, I do think it reflects badly on the NYT; this really smells to me like it's been coughed up with deliberate effort. What we call "balach" in Marathi...Read some of the comments where people have cancelled their subscription!
